Six years old, divorced and moving south The exact same day across the road the Keith family moved into their house Simon was the same age as my sister, Chris was the same age as me We were instant friends with the same name playing all day on weekends Run across the road saying hi to Gail and Roger, and then Chris and I would walk off to school together. It wasn't far, but we talked about everything on our journey around the corner, Transformers, Bullrush, and girls like Elizabeth and Olivia Then one morning, Mrs Keith told me that Chris had already gone I was really puzzled and I missed him that morning and afternoon He had karate after school so I didn't get to see him The next day I went a little bit earlier, but he had left again Chris must have decided I wasn't cool or something. Anyway, I figured he didn't want to walk to school with me anymore. We were still schoolmates, but we didn't hang out like we used to. We drifted apart. It happens. I took it on the chin. I haven’t seen him since I haven’t seen him since I haven’t seen him since I haven’t seen him since I haven’t seen him since I haven’t seen him since No no no no I haven’t seen him since Neil told me his best friend at school was another guy named Neil too He was staying over at his house when they had a bit of a blue They didn't really speak much after that and he never stayed again But he’d see him when he helped his dad deliver firewood around to their place Years later Neil and his girlfriend Wendy were driving along And he saw Neil and a woman in the opposite direction He did a U-turn and followed flashing his lights The other Neil pulled over and the other woman was his wife They chatted for a bit and it turned out her name was Wendy too Well fancy one Neil and Wendy meeting another two Neil told me they invited them around for dinner the following week and things went pretty well so they asked them to come and stay a couple of weeks later in his cousin's caravan down the coast. After the first night of their 3 night stay the two Wendy’s weren't getting on very well so the following morning Neil told him that he and Wendy were heading back home. I haven’t seen him since I haven’t seen him since I haven’t seen him since I haven’t seen him since I haven’t seen him since I haven’t seen him since No no no no I haven’t seen him since

Prog rock shock jock, gotta stop to watch the clock Old habits new friends, Never found our feet again Big splash hockney style Gotta say it’s been a while Peach Pit poor fit, really wouldn’t stand for it Eighty seven Free fall, Trying hard to play it cool Good times bad lines, all the rules redefined The big scare was all hot air, You can find your own way there High time - wise up Open - eyes up Deep space time travel, watching your life unravel Thumbnail pacific trail, everyone expects to fail Doffed cap treasure map, might be time to have a nap Sold out to fair trade, gotta say we’ve got it made Gas station Elevation, Polly’s running out of patience On par but off course, You’re just a spent force Stand in line and wait your turn Some people just don’t fucking learn High time - wise up Open - eyes up

I didn’t tell you my problem in the hope you would solve it The weight I carry isn’t yours to shoulder I dealt my own hand and I’m gonna fold it I’ll look after myself You look after yourself Recollect Reconnect Sodajerk space cadet I couldn’t tell you my problem because you weren’t listening The louder I shouted the softer I was whispering I can’t stand the heat when it’s blistering I’ll look after myself You look after yourself Recollect Reconnect Sodajerk space cadet

Got a second hand version filtered from the third person Damage control, kicking the conversion Pulling the plug before it worsens Sometimes when you’re down you gotta keep going Pick up the pace if it is slowing If the fights worth anything it’s worth throwing Hey hey - If you ask for an estimate Hey hey – You’ll just get a best guess I never knew the details but I got the gist Shane’s stepfather did things he never shoulda did Hanging from the rafters thinking ‘bout the kid With a little luck we could probably get back on track Drop our defenses, load our attack, Readdress things and revise the map Hey hey - If you ask for an estimate Hey hey – You’ll just get a best guess Face up to each other give up the pretence Back to earth after time on the fence Try and find some common ground among the common sense Doomed to failure we can accept our fate God only knows it’s been worth the wait Even if we’re too far gone and far too late Hey hey - If you ask for an estimate Hey hey – You’ll just get a best guess
